Competency based Economies through
Formation of Enterprise (CEFE)
Rationale
The global realities of world’s economy have provided ample reasons for us to
address some of the economic woes of our time; these include lack of
employment, poor economic growth and the fall in the standard of living.
In an effort to address these situations, it is important for us to engender the
spirit and culture of entrepreneurship within the society. A major aim should
therefore be to create and sustain an entrepreneurial culture in tertiary
institutions and the wider society.
With additional objectives:
-To advance the development of an entrepreneurial culture within the suriname economy;
-To encourage the practice of entrepreneurship within Suriname;
-To expose educational institutions to revolutionary methodology in the teaching of enterpreneurship which could be used in other disciplines;
-To outline the implementation steps for an entrepreneurial programme among members of the Chamber of Commerce through the use of the CEFE methodology.
-To expose educational institutions to revolutionary methodology in the teaching of enterpreneurship which could be used in other disciplines;
-To outline the implementation steps for an entrepreneurial programme among members of the Chamber of Commerce through the use of the CEFE methodology.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry is working together with her Business
Support Organization Foundation to achieve the following objectives:
1. To expose participants to a methodology of delivering entrepreneurship
that guarantees learning as a result of its experiential learning
component.
2. Competency based Economies through the Formation of Enterprise
3. To give participants the alternative to seeking a job after the completion of
their course of study. The graduate should be able to, with additional
training, guide other persons to successfully start and operate a business.
4. To develop an entrepreneurial culture even if the participant does not
want to start a business but rather wants to find a job. It is felt that
employees on a job must think entrepreneurially and display the
characteristics of the entrepreneur while on the job.
5. To foster a spirit of entrepreneurship among participants that leads to the
generation of Micro Enterprises. This in turn leads to economic growth
and development.
6. Give the participants tools in how to plan and run a business.
CEFE is a comprehensive training concept and methodology to strengthen
enterprising and key competencies needed for a successful start in a career as
an Entrepreneur, Employee, Manager in the enterprising society of this millennium.
